Meeker Elementary School Families,
On Tuesday December 6 at 2:00 PM, we will practice the "Lockdown" directive outlined in our MSD Emergency Operations plan. In a "Lockdown" situation, there is a threat or hazard inside the school building. During a "Lockdown," classrooms are locked, lights are turned off, and staff/students get out of sight.
Teachers are reviewing the specifics of what the drill will look like in their classrooms in the coming days. Meeker Police will be invited to be on sight as we practice this drill as well.
While we sincerely hope we never have to utilize the "Lockdown" directive in the MSD Emergency Operations plan, we also know that it is essential for us to practice this drill to help ensure the safety of our students in an emergency situation. Please feel free to contact superintendent/interim elementary principal Chris Selle at chris.selle@meeker.k12.co.us or 970-878-9050 x102 if you have any questions or concerns.

Please see the note below reminding families of the student developed reading competition at Meeker Elementary School.
___________________________
Dear Parents,
On November 1st (this Tuesday), we begin our reading competition, and I’m so excited! Once again, this is a competition per each grade level. Whoever reads the most minutes will get $75 Chamber Bucks. Second place will get $50 and third place will get $25. I wanted to send out this reminder, and I hope you will encourage your child to participate. I love reading and cannot stress enough how important it is to read when you’re young. This will be a great opportunity to allow your child to get very entranced in the world of books. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at 24ainsley.selle@meeker.k12.co.us. Thank you!
Ainsley Selle

Meeker Elementary School Open House!

The Rio Blanco County Department of Human Services has acquired approximately 200 boxes filled with nonperishable food items. These boxes are available near the bike racks at the end of the lower drop off loop at Meeker Elementary. The food boxes are intended for families who qualify for free/reduced lunch and/or are experiencing financial need. We ask that families only take one box per student living in their household. The food boxes are available on a first come, first served basis and no paperwork will be required for a family to take a food box (or boxes). Families are invited to stop by Meeker Elementary at their convenience in the next couple days to pick up a box (or boxes) of food items!

Support the Meeker High School FCCLA Empty Bowls fundraiser from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at MHS on Thursday, January 27!
You can also cheer on your MHS Basketball teams as they host the Rangely Panthers!

The Meeker School District has received a limited number of BinaxNow rapid COVID-19 test kits. These kits are available to students and parents if they stop by the Administration Building between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Because we have a limited amount of test kits, we are asking that only symptomatic or exposed individuals use these kits, for the time being. More kits are on order and we will inform our school community once they are available!
