For the past two years, Meeker Elementary School has engaged in learning opportunities through a partnership with Wisdom Ways Academy in Ghana, Africa. This partnership has been facilitated by OneSeed, which is a nonprofit organization run by a Meeker High School graduate. OneSeed has also offered curriculum materials for one of the elective courses at Barone Middle School during the 22-23 school year. Meeker Elementary School is immensely grateful to our community partners for their willingness to take time out of their schedules today to teach our students about various safety topics! Meeker Elementary School Parents, We will be holding our annual Safety Day for MES students on Tuesday, May 23. In order to conduct Safety Day, we need to utilize the upper parking lot and loop. The upper parking lot will be closed starting at 7:30 a.m. on May 23, and the upper loop will be closed once school has started except for preschool pick-up and drop-off which will operate as normal. We are grateful for our community partners who will be presenting safety topics to kindergarten through 5th grade students!

Meeker Elementary School Families, on Tuesday May 8 at 9:30 AM, we conducted a DRILL for the "Lockdown" directive outlined in our MSD Emergency Operations plan. In a "Lockdown" situation, there is a threat or hazard inside the school building. During a "Lockdown," classrooms are locked, lights are turned off, and staff/students get out of sight. Students and staff did a great job practicing a "Lockdown" in today's DRILL. While we sincerely hope we never have to utilize the "Lockdown" directive in the MSD Emergency Operations plan, we also know that it is essential for us to practice this drill to help ensure the safety of our students in an emergency situation. Registration for preschool programs in Colorado is changing for the 2023-2024 school year. Families with children who will be four years old by July 1, 2023 are encouraged to register for Universal Preschool at upk.colorado.gov by May 11, 2023. Meeker Elementary School will hold a follow up event in early August to share specifics about our preschool program.
