Meeker Elementary School students completed a full evacuation drill today where we practiced walking all the way to the reunification site listed in our district's Emergency Operations Plan. The reunification site is the green 4-H building at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds. Students and staff did an outstanding job practicing our evacuation protocols!

Meeker Elementary School Families,
On Tuesday December 6 at 2:00 PM, we will practice the "Lockdown" directive outlined in our MSD Emergency Operations plan. In a "Lockdown" situation, there is a threat or hazard inside the school building. During a "Lockdown," classrooms are locked, lights are turned off, and staff/students get out of sight.
Teachers are reviewing the specifics of what the drill will look like in their classrooms in the coming days. Meeker Police will be invited to be on sight as we practice this drill as well.
While we sincerely hope we never have to utilize the "Lockdown" directive in the MSD Emergency Operations plan, we also know that it is essential for us to practice this drill to help ensure the safety of our students in an emergency situation. Please feel free to contact superintendent/interim elementary principal Chris Selle at chris.selle@meeker.k12.co.us or 970-878-9050 x102 if you have any questions or concerns.

Dear Parents,
On November 1st (this Tuesday), we begin our reading competition, and I’m so excited! Once again, this is a competition per each grade level. Whoever reads the most minutes will get $75 Chamber Bucks. Second place will get $50 and third place will get $25. I wanted to send out this reminder, and I hope you will encourage your child to participate. I love reading and cannot stress enough how important it is to read when you’re young. This will be a great opportunity to allow your child to get very entranced in the world of books. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at 24ainsley.selle@meeker.k12.co.us. Thank you!
Ainsley Selle

Meeker Elementary School Parents,
Through the first 10 weeks of the school year students have been involved in accidents during play on the rings or monkey bars at our playground that have resulted in four broken arms and one concussion. To increase the safety of our students, we have added fall protection material and have instituted new playground rules. The new rules can be viewed by clicking on the link below. Please visit with your student about these rules and contact the school if you have questions.

Meeker Elementary Students will be allowed to wear costumes to school on October 31, 2022, if they would like to do so. We ask that students plan to wear their costume the entire day so that class time is not utilized to change into costumes. Please refrain from bringing items that may cause a distraction such as masks, props, face paint, etc... There will not be a parade of students throughout the school this year. Classroom teachers may also implement additional guidelines that will help ensure our focus remains on student learning on October 31. Please contact the school with any questions.
